Bachelor of Music in Music Education | The Bachelor of Music in Music Education is designed specifically to educate and provide certification for those intending to teach music in elementary or secondary schools. The major offers two tracks: instrumental music education and choral/general music education. Students in both tracks are able to gain classroom experience through extensive, field-based teaching opportunities that begin as early as the sophomore year. |
Bachelor of Music in Music History and Literature | The Bachelor of Music in Music History and Literature focuses on the history of Western music. It is primarily designed for students who wish to pursue graduate study in musicology. |

Students in this major also have the option of applying to the 4+1 BA/MBA program through the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. |

Master of Music in Performance | The Master of Music in Performance is offered for all orchestral instruments, guitar, piano and voice. Along with course requirements, candidates for the Master of Music in Performance must present a public recital and pass an oral examination. |
Master of Music in Teaching | The Master of Music in Teaching is offered with specializations in choral, general and instrumental music. Along with course requirements, candidates for the Master of Music in Teaching will complete a thesis or professional development project and a public presentation of their scholarly work. Students choosing the professional development project option must also pass an oral examination. |
Master of Music in Composition | The Master of Music in Composition focuses on advanced private study in composition, along with other course requirements. Composition students must also pass an oral examination. |
Master of Music in Conducting | The Master of Music in Conducting is offered in orchestral conducting, wind band conducting and choral conducting concentrations. Coursework includes advanced private study in conducting with podium time in front of large ensembles in the School. Candidates for the MM in Conducting must present a recital and pass an oral examination. |
