Bachelor of Music in Performance Expand performance and entrepreneurial skills, and develop public performance practice while preparing to enter the competitive music performance career marketplace.
Bachelor of Music in Music Education  Develop teaching skills and techniques in preparation for a career as a certified music educator in either choral or instrumental music classrooms in Virginia.
Bachelor of Arts in Music Combine substantial study of music with another field in preparation for interdisciplinary careers such as music production, music business, arts management, and more.
MFA in Theatre pedagogy/performance The Master of Fine Arts in Theatre with a concentration in pedagogy/performance is individually tailored to prepare early- to mid-career theatre professionals to enter the field of teaching at the university or college level

Brass Brass students in the School of Music study individually with a full-time professor on his or her instrument and participate in studio classes every week.
Percussions The School of Music’s percussion studio has a nationwide reputation for excellence in performance. Our percussion ensemble has performed at conventions in Chicago, Knoxville, Tenn., Washington, D.C., and Norfolk, Va.
Piano Pianists can choose from concentrations in performance (solo or collaborative), music education, music industry, composition, and jazz studies
Strings JMU provides a broad range of ensembles for student musicians. Studio instruction is at the core of each student’s success
Voice Undergraduate voice study in all concentrations is based on the development of complete vocal mastery through the achievement of progressive skill levels. 
Windwoods Each woodwind major has the opportunity for in-depth study on his/her instrument with a specialist who is both a performing artist and an experienced teacher. 
Music Education The Concentration in Music Education is the largest program in the School of Music and the largest in the state of Virginia.
Music Industry The Music Industry program offers a broad course of study designed to meet the constantly changing requirements of a multi-faceted and protean industry.
Jazz Studies JMU offers both an undergraduate Jazz Studies Major and a Minor in Jazz Studies.
Composition At James Madison University, composers can pursue a four year Bachelor’s Degree and a two year Master’s Degree. Our program offers a wealth of performance opportunities for students’ music, study with members of the composition faculty, and masterclasses or group lessons with prominent guest composers

B.A. Music Performance The Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance is designed for the student who seeks to develop outstanding performance skill and musicianship within a liberal arts concentration. 
B.A. Music Pre-Certification The Bachelor of Arts in Music Pre-Certification prepares students for a career in K-12 Music Education. 
B.S. in Music Recording Technology The Music Recording Technology program is designed for the student who desires a career in audio engineering, music recording, audio equipment design, sound reinforcement, broadcasting, audio sales, or studio maintenance.
B.S. in Music (Audio Production Emphasis) The Bachelor of Science in Music degree (Audio Production emphasis) is designed for students who wish to participate in audio production and related sound capture experiences (live recording, studio recording, digital and analog recording, etc.)
