Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) offers the most advanced education available in rhythmic contemporary music – a multifaceted concept that embraces widely diverse forms of expression in such genres as rock, pop, jazz, urban, metal and electronic music. Rhythmic contemporary music is a creative and performative art form that builds upon a solid foundation of professional and cultural traditions. At RMC, rhythmic contemporary music means openness, curiosity, diversity and a critical position. In addition to providing music education at the highest level, RMC also operates research and development projects in the Conservatory’s core areas. The Conservatory also helps to promote musical culture in Denmark in general, and acts as a meeting-point for all of the stakeholders in the music industry. RMC provides a framework for a diverse range of public artist meetings, concerts, seminars, conferences and symposia. RMC is located in Holmen in Copenhagen, amid beautiful waterside surroundings, and in the heart of a vibrant artistic educational community that also includes the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ Schools for Architecture, Design and Conservation, the National Film School of Denmark and the Danish National School of Performing Arts. MUSIC PERFORMANCE | The Music Performance programme is aimed at musicians who perform and create, and who see themselves as future innovators in the field of music as a contemporary artistic expression. |

MUSIC MANAGEMENT | Music Management is a study programme for people who are passionate about being part of the music industry of the future. Music Management qualifies the student to work in management, development and operations in the music industry, and in related areas of the experience and cultural industries. The study programme is interdisciplinary and combines theory and practice in the interface between social studies and the arts. Study trips and internships help to strengthen the student’s networks, both in Denmark and abroad, and the study environment at RMC itself offers fruitful interdisciplinary relationships across the boundaries of the Conservatory’s various study programmes. |
MUSIC PRODUCTION | The purpose of the study programme is to educate music producers who have a personal voice and vast experience with the craftsmanship and artistic methods belonging to the field of music production. In detail the field of the education includes the close, creative cooperative relationship between artists, song writers, musicians, composers, A&R’s and more. |
MUSIC CREATION | The Master’s in Music Creation is a two-year programme that provides you with an opportunity to immerse yourself in the further development of your artistic profile in the area of music creation – composition, songwriting or music production. The programme focuses on creating musical works, and you are to a large extent able to shape the programme in accordance with your artistic profile and development. The programme offers plenty of opportunity for you to hone your skills as a creative, performing musician and to develop new ideas through an inquiring practice. You will have access to individual guidance related to your educational goals; you can get involved in collaborative projects across RMC’s own programmes as well as at other artistic schools at Holmen, Copenhagen; and as a part of the programme, you must organize a self-planned external semester. The programme also place emphasis on developing your entrepreneurial skills, and will give you direct access to RMC’s extensive national and international networks. |
MUSIC EDUCATION | The Master’s in Music Education is a two-year music pedagogical programme which qualifies you at advanced level as a music teacher. The programme focuses – based on your artistic profile – on developing your pedagogical skills, your competencies in educational project development and project management as well as your individual artistic and pedagogical profile. The course will link relevant theory to your pedagogical projects. Practical teaching projects – independent and prearranged by RMC – are an integral part of the programme. A range of elective subjects, also offers you possibilities to accustom the programme contents to your own wishes. Furthermore, the programme places emphasis on developing your entrepreneurial skills, and offers you direct access to RMC’s extensive national and international networks. |

You will have the flexibility to shape the programme in accordance with your artistic goals and visions. You will have access to individual guidance related to your educational goals; you can get involved in collaborative projects across RMC’s own programmes as well as at other artistic schools at Holmen, Copenhagen; and as part of the programme, you must organize and carry through a self-planned external semester. MUSIC PERFORMANCE – EUROPEAN JAZZ MASTER | The Master’s in European Jazz Master (EUJAM) is a two-year programme and specialisation option within the Master’s programme Music Performance, which is operated jointly with leading music academies in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam and Trondheim. The programme is aimed at elite jazz musicians and composers. It includes compulsory semesters abroad, and is designed to further qualify you for the employment market by giving you a strong personal network among the leading European jazz musicians of the future. You acquire first-hand knowledge of educational cultures and music scenes in the cities in the collaboration, and under the influence of the teachers you encounter in the various educational institutions, you also acquire a broad education on your instrument. |
MUSIC PERFORMANCE – NORDIC MASTER: THE COMPOSING MUSICIAN | The Master’s in Nordic Master: The Composing Musician (NoCoM) is a two-year study programme and specialisation option within the Master’s programme Music Performance, which is aimed at creative musicians who wish to focus on composition. The programme is operated by RMC in partnership with the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg – two of the programme’s four semesters are spent at these partner institutions. The purpose of the programme is to strengthen and challenge your artistic development and musical expression, as well as to qualify you further for the employment market. You are very much encouraged to organise your own studies, so that you have the opportunity to acquire the skills that best support your artistic development. |
APD – PERFORMANCE | The Advanced Postgraduate Diploma programme (APD) is a two-year training programme that qualifies the student as an instrumentalist or vocalist at the highest artistic level. The objective of the programme is to equip the student with further qualifications for the employment market by augmenting the student’s Masters degree with comprehensive studies in one or more artistic areas of research chosen by the candidate her/himself. |
