Universidad Nacional De Musica

The National University of Music is a fundamental educational institution for the study, interpretation, conservation and growth of musical heritage. Through its 112 years of existence, it continues to train the most important professional musicians in Peru. In addition to its academic work, the University is projected to the community through an intense and varied dissemination activity, offering concerts, recitals, specialized library and record archive services, laboratories of musical language, electroacoustics, keyboard and extension courses. In this way, it broadens its field of action by developing a comprehensive educational work that additionally generates benefits for our society and that involves other sectors of the country. |
Professional careers | The National University of Music is the most important and oldest musical educational institution in Peru. It offers university-level studies of the highest quality, based on humanistic principles and values, promoting excellence, creativity and innovation. It enjoys academic, economic and administrative autonomy, coordinates its study plans with the National Superintendence of Higher University Education (SUNEDU) and issues the Bachelor’s Degree and the Bachelor’s Degree in Music. |
Higher education | It trains professionals of the highest level, capable of working in the academic, cultural and commercial fields. Aimed at those who want to be professional musicians. It is entered after passing an annual admission exam where musical knowledge and skills (acquired through studies) are evaluated according to the specialty to which it is presented. |
Preparatory Studies | The National University of Music offers musical training studies in its Preparatory Studies Section in order to train its students to enter the Higher Studies Section. The musical training is carried out in two programs: |
School Program: Aimed at applicants who have not completed secondary education, from 9 years of age. The training has a maximum duration of six years. | |
Post School Program: Aimed at applicants who have completed secondary education, up to 25 years of age. The training is carried out in a maximum of four academic cycles (two years). | |
Promotion of Musical Activities and Social Responsibility | The Directorate for the Promotion of Musical Activities and Social Responsibility is in charge of planning, programming, directing, organizing, executing, supervising and evaluating musical activities related to the training of professional musicians, the development of music at the highest level and actions of social responsibility. |
